Traditional Uses of Borneol Resin (Dryobalanops aromatica)

The first record for medical use of borneol resin has been appeared
in the Chinese medical literature of Newly Revised Materia Medica
by Su Jing (657-659 A.D.).
In Traditional Chinese Medicine, borneol resin has been used
internally and topically to clear heat, relieve pain, stop itching in the
treatment of sore throat, ulcers in the oral cavity, painful swollen
gums, tooth ache, swelling, redness and pain in the eyes.

Modern Research - Borneol Resin (Dryobalanops aromatica)

Borneol resin has been shown to be antibiotic having an inhibitory effect against Staphylococcus aureus,
Diplococcus pneumonia, E. coli, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, and other dermatophytes.
It has been used to treat dizziness, otitis, and various forms of abscesses and swellings.
