The first record for medical use of corydalis tubers has been
appeared in the Chinese medical literature of Omissions from the
Classic of the Materia Medica by Chen Cang-Qi (741 A.D).
In traditional Chinese Medicine, corydalis tubers have been used
internally to activate blood circulation to relieve pain in the treatment
of chest pain, epigastric and abdominal pain, and pain in the
extremities.

Corydalis tubers have been shown to be analgesic, sedative and tranquilizing but have not been
shown to cause dependence, and to be anti-inflammatory in inhibiting histamine release and
formation of edema in animals in both acute and chronic phases of inflammation.
