Dr. Shirley Chen, CEO and Co-Founder of WinVivo, was invited by the Prevention Research Center of Stanford University, School of Medicine to give a lecture entitled “Using Food as Medicine for Healthy Aging.” This seminar is under Stanford’s Health Improvement Program (HIP) and supported by the National Institute of Health (NIH).
To participants in the study Dr. Chen described WinVivo’s founding philosophy of using food as medicine and the thousand year-old Asian tradition of incorporating medicinal botanicals into their daily diet and health maintenance routine. Using the plant-centered diet of centenarians in the Bama region of China as an example, Dr. Chen shared with the audience the knowledge of balanced diet focused on using mostly plants and mushrooms for promoting immune health internally, and using botanical-based natural remedies for treating difficult-to-heal chronic skin conditions.
